    About Dr. Paddy

Dr. A Patrick Smithwick III, or Dr. Paddy as the patients call him, is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and reached attending status at Children’s Hospital of Colorado. After graduating from Hobart College, Dr. Paddy was trained at the University of Maryland College of Dental Surgery (fun fact: it was the first dental school in the nation) where he placed in the top five percent on the National Dental Board Exam.

He continued his specialty training in pediatric dentistry for an additional two years at New York University and the world-renowned Bellevue Hospital where he was trained in growth and development, orthodontics, hospital dentistry, sedation and general anesthesia. Dr. Paddy also trained at the RFK Center for the treatment of children with developmental disabilities and the Hassenfeld Center of Hematology and Oncology. While in New York, he was an integral part of the cranial facial/cleft lip and palate team at the NYU Medical Center. Phew! That was a lot of schooling!

Dr. Paddy’s mission is to give your child the absolute best dental care using the most up-to-date techniques and modern equipment. He strives to get to know each patient as an individual with his or her own interests and habits. He’s also dedicated to making going to the dentist a fun, positive experience, which why there’s always something going on in the office, whether Dr. Paddy is rocking his Santa Claus or Superman onesies, enforcing a Denver Bronco’s jersey dress code before a big game or having the whole staff wear ugly Christmas sweaters. And, of course, keep an eye out for Dr. Paddy’s trademark crazy socks. A haberdasher himself, Bubbs, the office mascot, likes dressing up in his seasonal outfits as well.

In addition to keeping your teen’s teeth and gums clean and healthy, we’ll monitor the development of their mouth and point your teen in the right direction if it’s time to start thinking about braces.

The Isolite System relies on a single-use, soft and comfortable bite block so your child’s jaw won’t hurt after a procedure.

Myobrace is a better way to achieve straighter teeth without the use of braces! It’s a natural way to fix bad oral habits and exert light force to align the teeth and jaws into their natural position.

Waterlase dentistry uses a combo of water, air and laser energy, to perform a variety of dental procedures. It’s a way more comfortable way of treating infants and young children.

Kids Mile High has partnered with Under Armour to offer our sports playing patients the ultimate in tooth protection. It all starts with an awesome 3-D scan of their mouths and results in a custom mouthguard.

“Choosing "Kids Mile High Pediatric Dentistry" for the dental treatment of my seven years old son, is the best decision I ever made. Dr. Paddy is the kindest and most professional pediatric dentist I've seen, and I have taken my son to many dentists before, including Children's hospital.
In my opinion "Kids Mile High" exceeds by far the dental treatment received by my son, three years ago, at Children's hospital. In both places was a procedure under general anesthesia, but the personal attention, quality of materials and the procedure in general has been far superior in "Kids Mile High".
As a mother I feel completely happy to have finally found a pediatric dentist who has made my child feel comfortable, and that has made him lose extreme fear he had for the dental treatments before.
    Absolutely recommended.”

“Everybody was great. Our appointment was on-time. Dr Paddy is wonderful with our daughter. We only wish we could find more health care services as good as this office.”

    Sarah H.

“Great experience! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. If one of your kids happens to be having a meltdown upon arrival, don't worry! These guys are pros, made my kids feel at ease in short order. My kids always walk out with a smile on their faces, even if we didn't start off that way. Thank you Dr. Paddy, you and your staff rock!”
